Keigo Shokuo- main character (Name meaning: roughly Prince's bodyguard)
Mikoto Kyuuketsuki- vampire prince/ eventually becomes Keigo's best friend and lover (NM: roughly prince vampire)
Blood Brothers/BB- this name is misleading because of the "blood" part, but they're actually a group of highly trained assassins who are hired to kill Mikoto. They'll come up in conversations.

Riaru Kyuuketsuki- Mikoto's real mother [deceased] (NM: Real Vampire)

"Keigo? Are you coming with us or not?"
I looked at my best friend, Kigaru. "Uh... I actually have to go straight home today. I have a ton of studying to do if I'm going to pass tomorrow's exam."
"Oh, alright. Well... call me later, 'kay?" She winked at me and scampered off Karui and Nain, both of them waving goodbye at me. I turned around and walked home slowly. Honestly, I was in no hurry to go home, but I'm not really into shopping. I used to love it, but ever since I started high school..... I don't know. I just stopped liking it I guess because the clothes I liked stopped fitting after I..... blossomed? Anyway, it started to get really embarrassing, so I stopped going. Before I realized it, it was dark. I was only a couple blocks away from home, but the Vampires are always out at night. I quickened almost to a jog, not wanting to get caught out alone with nothing for protection. I slowed once the house was in my line of vision. I was so happy to almost be home that I didn't notice the big bulking figure that had stepped out from the shadows behind me, blocking the street light. But then another one stepped out in front of me.
"Well, well, Oogata. Look what we've got here."
"A guard caught off her guard?" The one behind me grabbed my elbow.
"Hey! Let go of me!!" I stomped sharply on his foot, but he didn't let go. So I went for a more direct approach, bringing my foot up and hitting him in the crotch with the heel of my foot. He fell to the sidewalk in pain, allowing me to get out of his grasp.... and right into the other guy's.
"I don't think his Majesty will mind if I drain just one of his royal guards." His mouth twisted into a sneer when he mentioned the Prince.
"I don't know what you're talking about! Let me go!" His grip tightened, and he brought his face to my neck. I thrashed wildly, screamed even. One of his sharp canines dug lightly into my skin, and pierced it just enough to bleed. I grabbed his face tightly and willed my body to be strong enough to push him off. He cried out in pain and fell away from me.
"You really are one of his personal bodyguards, aren't you!" He looked at me accusingly, and then I saw what I had done to cause such pain. The side of his face was split from his temple to his jaw, a nasty-looking rugged crack. I laughed once, almost amused by what I had done, and ran off, my feet pounding into the ground faster than ever before.

Introduction
Everybody has a friend. Someone to talk to, to share your secrets with. Someone in this cold cruel world that you could trust. A friend doesn't exactly have to be a person. It could be a pet, a journal-sometimes a banana-or even a rock. A friend doesn't have to be real, either. A character from a story or movie, perhaps? But that's still something everyone can look at, hear, or feel. Well, some of those make-believe friends, not actors, are things only you can look at, hear, and feel. Now those are called imaginary friends, as you probably know. Imaginary friends can be anything you want them to be. An animal, a creature you made up, a monster, or just another human being. There are rare cases when special people have imaginary friends that...are not exactly in the afterlife. But, no matter what, whatever kind of friend it is, that one true friend will always be there for you.
Always.
Always.
Always...

It was the next day. I got dressed nervously, had Bruno thought I was a helper? I put on a blue shirt that said "Do I Look Like I Care?" and skinny jeans. I ran outside to look for the bus, it wasn't there. I waited and waited, but it never came! I ran to school. I finally got to school no one was in the halls. I realized everyone was in class. I wrote a fake note in cursive the best I could. When I walked into class I gave the teacher the note. She read happily. Not looking angry at all, she said "Oh! I didn't give you a note. It was saying the bus driver was sick and there were no subs availble. Sorry!" I replied with " It's fine"
