Hi guys, okay since I'm a fan of both films. So here are comparisons on both films.
The Story
While watching Tangled, I notice some similarities with Anastasia. Rapunzel and the latter are both lost princesses who would be a commoner for the majority of the film.
Unlike Rapunzel, Anastasia suffers from amnesia while falling of the train and losing grip of her grandmother while escaping the revolution, while Rapunzel was kidnap as a baby by Mother Gothel.
They find true love along the way, and they did not get on well with Flynn and Dmitri respectively. But, as time goes by their relationship blossom. Flynn was knighted in the end for finding Rapunzel, whereas Anastasia and Dmitri elope together.
The Characters
Why I said that Anastasia and Rapunzel are similar is because they want to know about their past, and not to forget that they are adventurous and intelligent. Especially during the train scene when Anastasia helps Dmitri coming up with a solution!
Mother Gothel looks like the female version of Rasputin, mainly because of her appearance. But, Mother Gothel did not reveal her true nature until the second half of the film. While Rasputin was very straightforward, he was a villain at the beginning of the film.
Flynn is like Dmitri, because they had a awkward relationship with both Rapunzel and Anastasia respectively until gradually they realise their love for each other as the movie proceed.
The Music
Both songs and musical scores from these 2 movies are memorable, Anastasia reminds me of Alan Menken's work because of how similar they are. It is in fact, compose by David Newman.
Team Rapunzel or Team Anastasia?
So there you have it, do you agree my observations?

As an adult, I viewed the name Gaston of Beauty and the Beast's villian, Gaston, as Gaston's last name. I only assume its his last name because 1)the triplet girls call him "Monsieur Gaston" which is basically saying "Mr. Gaston" in the opening song called "Belle" in the reprise that Belle sings by herself the line "Madame Gaston, his little wife?" Most of the time saying "Madame (name" would be like saying Mrs. Gaston. And there's the fact Gaston is a first name but it could also be a last name as well. The name of Phantom of the Opera's author.
