Chapter Eighteen
Book Six- Zoe
How did the battle end? Well, Shane kicked some serious butt. I wasn't so bad myself. The guards may have been ghost but they were pretty easy to kill. All you had to do was kill hem like you would kill a human. It was that simple. It was what made the battle even more serious then it already was. My sister. She killed herself. That is what it looked like. The odd thing was that The One was nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere in the castle but I couldn't find him. I soon gave up. He wasn't important. My sister was. The dream of my sister's grave by Erica, Emma, and me was vivid in my mind as Shane carried her dead body back to our realm. It was going to be a hard thing to explain to my parents when we got home.
My expression was stone. I gave away no hints of crying or self pity. Shane didn't try to make any type of conversation and for that I was thankful for. I didn't want to talk. I didn't want to acknowledge my dead sister here. I stared up at my house. It was night time. A whole day had passed. We had been realm skipping and lost sense of time. My dad and Carrie must have been worried sick about me. As I opened the door they came at me with open arms and worried frowns. I did not hug back. My news was grim and not worthy of their affection.
"Where's Sophie?" asked Carrie.
Shane came from behind me with the dead body of Sophie. She had a small wound where her heart was. "We was coming home and some guys attacked us. I tried to save her but . . ." I trailed off. All of the pain and misery I was holding in came spilling out as I my dad wrapped his arms around me. I cried that day more then I ever cried in my lifetime. It was incredibly. I didn't realize I was so shook up from it until now.
A week had passed. We were all gathered around Sophie's grave. The mahogany wood was luminous in the morning sun rays. Even after death, Sophie could make the most tragic of things beautiful. Shane had come to pay his respects along with some of Sophie's lousy friends. Most of them were whispering and giggling during the service. I snapped at them to shut up and them some of them left. I guess they weren't use to rude girls like me. The service was elegant, just the way Sophie would have wanted it. I knew I could visit her in The Ghost Realm but that place had too many bad memories. It was something I wouldn't do.
We was out in the graveyard when Shane came up next to me. He smiled. We walked in sync through the graves and neighbors paying their respects. When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne replayed in my mind over and over.
"I've been thinking a lot lately," he said. "I can see ghost like you can. I know more about realms because my mom taught be a lot about this stuff. She could see ghost also. She and my father died a few months ago. I've been living with my grandmother. She doesn't understand my special abilities like my mom could. And I just want to say that I will fight with you till the end-" I kissed him. Before he could even mutter another word, I kissed him. I kissed him liked the world was going to die and 30 minutes. He kissed me back.
"I've been thinking too. I've been thinking that I lost my sister and I would kill myself if I lost you too. I won't let that happen." I kissed him once more.

Well, this is a song I wrote.
I've heard it wrong
There's been a mistake
There was a time when I won and I knew it
We will go on and on and on and on
There will be no more mistakes
For the future
We will fight through it all without complaint
We are the winners, my friend
And we'll fight through it all in the end
There's no time to lose it
Cuz we are the winners
Well, I know that it's been a great day
We've done it all
We've been the best we can be and you know it
We are the winners, my friend.
