P.B. covered what she could of the bruises Voro had given her. She had worn the wrong color dress for the date. Even though everyone at the party said it was beautiful and made them stand out. Impossible to miss. Tears spilled down ruining the careful blotting out she had done. She needed to break it off but Voro's past girlfriends....went missing. How had this happened? Mira had left leaving her finally on her very own for the real first time but she'd only done so as mom had been on her way, mom or Jamie as she liked to be called now had had one of her episodes. That now had become the norm for her, so P.B. couldn't go to her without feeling as if she'd failed and let everyone down. When she was done crying she redid her make up and put a smile on her face to go down to the floor below to go wake her....Jamie. Jamie looked at the clock mid-night. Damn it! Her tired bloodshot eyes begged for her to let them fall, but ever since that night in the desert....she bolted up and slapped the shit out of her face. Yet still her eye lids betrayed her as they slid down. Wasn't her normal nightmares enough, her body sighed and slid down onto the silken sheets. So tired so exhausted she hadn't been able to hold down her usual work. She'd had to hire out, actually let others put themselves in danger. Unforgiveable. That was her job, her only job, that made her feel even remotely better about her life..."my job, not your job....mine all mine." She blubbered and then like usual her mind opened to the scene.
The stones were sweaty with humidity and blood. Always blood. He was there. Young handsome defiant strong just as he was....no he couldn't be him. Yet she watched him, every step, every push of his body and mind together. She was his protector, his alone. Kuchiki. Her heart lit with fire as she jumped in between as the bastard took Zakura's cherry blossom specialty and used it on her man. No one! No one did that to him-to them! She absorbed as much as she could and then let the deadly petals pummel her into the body, before losing consciousness. When she woke she felt a tugging from her blood. She opened her eyes to see Bya's face full of concern and grief. Her little girl. Her sweet child. She reached out to her and felt her spirit connected to the Kuchiki's body. Jamie closed her eyes and searched for the man's soul. It was there. Just barely. No! He could not die! She would not allow him to die! She dragged him down into his body more, even as he fought her she snarled and pulled harder then she had ever pulled. Then held him in a hold of pure fire. Bya looked even more worried but pushed more of her healing art into the mortally wounded body. Jamie took some of the healing in herself as she felt the fire holding the Kuchiki's spirit weaken.
Byakuya fell asleep in front of Hisana's photo in his temporary home's shrine. His lie had been believed.Yet now he felt guilty cornering some innocent even if they never met, she was being used as some pawn in a game. That may turn out to be dangerous. What if his enemies decided to strike out at him threw this Jasmine. He tightened his fists in his sleep. How desperate was he? He had to meet her. Had to protect her. Had to explain. He drifted deeper in his sleep, his body slide down to the floor. He found himself where he should have ended. Above him on the wall he saw the impossibility of his survival. He saw the poor condition his body was in. He should have died. Orihemia was there and trying to save him, her face so full of emotions it humbled him. His soul was failing, he was dying even as she worked to save his life. Then the being that had interlaid within him revealed itself. More bone then flesh. It grabbed what was left of his soul and dragged it, pulled it and then used its own energy to ensure his survival. "What are you?" The de-fleshed creature looked up at him briefly and then encircled his wisp of a soul with itself before sighing into sleep. They flashed to the hospital room where even with all that had been done he was dying. Breathing tubes, blood, wrappings around his body that were seeping blood. His body was dying, why not let him go? He looked passed the medical view and saw the creature from before still fighting his tired soul. He shook his head as if sensing him it turned and narrowed its eyes before turning back to its fight. Then he saw a light emitting from the creature. It started to heal him in earnest. Pressing more and more of itself into the operation, till there was no going on to death. Byakuya saw Mayuri plead for the creature to stop healing his body so fast. Yet the creature ignored it till it dragged itself to the edge of his body and slipped down onto the floor. No one saw it, no one sensed it, except him in his dream state. It laid there on the floor breathing reedy as its body had not recovered from its previous actions. Cautiously he knelt to the creature. It's back lifting and shivering with each breath. He gently touched it, it stilled and then it talked. " Do not sully your self by being kind to me. I am a creature unworthy of such attentions." The rasping of its voice made him remove his hands. Before putting them back, for once his compassion showing through. As he prepared to give back a portion of the given energy he was thrown across the now empty room. The creature rose up from the floor towering over him. Its body hidden in shadow except for its eyes....eyes of a snake burning with diamonds of fire. The creature's hair....or were they? The blanket of hair moved independently of its host. Had it hissed? Perhaps it would have been better to die. A skeletal hand suddenly grabbed him up from the floor and brought him close to the face of the creature. For a brief moment the shadows dissipated to show the results of its labors. Its organs were shredded and plastered to its rib cage, its voice rose out of a thinly skinned throat that with every word promised to ripe itself apart. "Don't you ever say that! Life is the most important creation God ever created! Yours the most important!" Its eyes then widened and its grasp eased him down and away. "Why did you save me?" The creature waved him away, its hand now scaled in skin. He blocked it as it wondered to a corner. Sniffing. He knew it was trying to find a way out. "Tell me and I will let you go." It stopped and hissed, it took Byakuya a moment to realize it was laughing. "Why do you laugh?" It laughed even more. Becoming higher, stronger and more feminine then before. "You remind me of him.Yes you are his descendant, that is very clear. Even cursed as I am. I am your protector and as for you allowing me to leave...." She disappeared. The back of his neck tingled. Her voice silk at the back of his ear. "I do that whenever I want." Then she was gone and he felt strangely hollow.
Jamie woke, her body tingling pleasurably. Her ears picking up a definite purring, but she didn't own a cat....her eyes widened as she realized she was making the sound. What the hell? She took a cleansing breath and tasted him on her lips, on her tongue, on her. They hadn't slept together, had they? No of course not. She looked down at her naked body. No, definitely not. Then ho.....Damn it! She'd been tagged. He must have poured a portion of his own energies into her while she was re-living his, their most recent history. It would take a week before the effects would wear off...he could track her here. But why would he? It had been just a dream a way of making sense of what had happened to him. Yeah no need to fear. Fear? Why would she need to fear him? She was his protector. His. But he...."Are you alone in there or do you have company of the male persuasion?" P.B. knocked at her bedroom door in a voice pure of fun and teasing. Jamie rolled her eyes and put a pillow over her face. The knocking kept coming Jamie screamed into her pillow before spiking it at the door. P.B. laughed as she heard the pillow hit and went to go check out her mother's food stores. Jamie flexed her surprisingly relaxed joints and walked out her door and into the bathroom. Starting the shower before going out to the apartment size washer and drier duo. "Oh Jesus mom put some clothes on!" Jamie snorted and fluffed up her tangle of natural 3 alarm fire waves. "Why should I?It's my apartment! And stop raiding my fridge!" Jamie stormed her adopted daughter and saw the artfully done make up before P.B. could turn away. Jamie's hands turned into fists, she had to take a slow breath before even touching her child. "This ends now. No buts, no excuses, do it now or I'll handle him in a way that no one will ever find him." P.B. started to cry and Jamie hugged her, her head butting up against P.B.'s chin. "Why P.B.? Tell me why?" P.B. sniffled and clung to her mother's naked body. "I....I thought I could save him. Like you saved us....but I was wrong. So wrong." Jamie's heart hurt. "This isn't the first time he's hit you. He threatened us didn't he if you told anyone." P.B. sobbed and nodded. "How could anyone trust me to be on my own if they knew I'd let such a monster into my life? Mira would be saddled with me for the rest of her days and she loves her new job." Jamie sighed heavily and squeezed her lightly. "Everyone is allowed to make mistakes in their life, this one is your whopper of one. Now while I'm getting clean you make that call. " Jamie eased away and bent her daughter's head down so that she could kiss her forehead. P.B. laughed. " You know they'd think we were lovers if anyone saw us now." Jamie shivered. "Yeah you lesbian pedophile." She laughed and grabbed her underwear from the drier and groaned as she felt the rest before hitting another 30 minute cycle. Then grabbed her uniform disappearing into the bathroom. Hitting her intercom she waited for the pick up. When she didn't hear it, she hit the open button. "I don't hear you making that call!" P.B. swore as she picked up the phone and dialed Voro's personal number.
Voro del Fuego sat counting his money ,when he saw his phone light up with his favorite beauty. She had learned her lesson well. Yes she would make a very good wife. "Hello beautiful." His voice charming as the devils. P.B. pressed her lips together. " Voro we're threw...…" She didn't even get to say anything more as the line went dead on his end. She put her mother's old style phone down on its receiver. Her mother's voice came out of the speaker. "You stay in my apartment. You don't go out. You don't answer the phone unless you get a text from me that I'm calling you. Ow-ow-ow! Damn this no crying shampoo! I'm gonna sue them bastards!" P.B. chuckled and felt the weight fall off her shoulders.
